Zimmerman Charged with Murder

After weeks of waiting, I honestly had lost hope that Zimmerman would be charged with anything.

These are my personal thoughts. A George Zimmerman charged rant if you will.

My George Zimmerman Rant

Surveillance footage appears to indicate that Zimmerman didn’t suffer any visible injuries.

***UPDATE***The rant below was recorded before I saw the video that shows Zimmerman being led in handcuffs for questioning. It doesn’t look like Zimmerman sustained any serious injuries.

These thoughts are my own, and forgive me for speculating or for providing any information that is less than accurate.

Fox 35 (Orlando), has an exclusive interview with George Zimmerman’s father, Robert who says that Trayvon swung first, and threatened to kill George Zimmerman (you have to watch the story though, because Trayvon apparently said that after Zimmerman pulled out his gun).

I wasn’t there and honestly only God, Trayvon (RIP), and admitted shooter – George Zimmerman knows what happened.

Classic MUR: A lesson in hate in the deep south

by Amani Channel

I was going through my archive and ran across this video that I produced during one of my storm chaser news trips a couple of years ago.

My cameraman Mario Page, decided to make a stop in small town in Louisiana where his family is from.

We ended up on the wrong side of the tracks.

Why social media is important to me

by Amani Channel

I’ve been busy lately, and haven’t spent a lot of time on the blog.

I’m working on a few side projects, the full-time gig, the fam, and life in general makes me feel like 24 hours just isn’t enough time.

As I’ve been reflecting on my career, the media, and the new online communication tools, I always go back to my roots in East Palo Alto, California.

It’s amazing at how your environment can shape you. I believe that my home city helped me get where I am today professionally and personally.

As the media shifts, I know people want to know how to make money via social media, how to market, get publicity and influence consumers.

Those things are important, but to me the power is in the conversation. It is the ability to share information about what you’re passionate about. The power to change perceptions and stereotypes.

My home city received plenty of negative attention when I was growing up, and it still does.

But there are good stories in every community, which are often ignored by the media in general.

Let’s start telling and sharing them.

Why is social media important to you?

Video production 1,2,3s

by Amani Channel

ElectroVoice RE20

This is a audio podcast I created in early 2009 after my dad bought a professional microphone for my studio.

My goal was to produce these regularly, which didn’t happen.

In this recording, I share the three steps of video production.

If you have any questions, tweet me @urbanreporter or @visualeyemedia.

I’m planning to step it up in 2010.

Please share any thoughts or feedback. Thanks.

The Canon 7D – the future of video

by Amani Channel

I’ve been taking notice of the great videos that are being produced with the Canon 7D.

In a prior post I wrote that the camera takes amazing video. The video below is proof.

The quality of the Canon 7D rivals that of much bigger HD video cameras.

I’ve had more than a week to recover from the Florida Gators’ loss in the SEC Championship game and actually enjoyed watching this recap courtesy Patrick Murphy-Racey.

SEC Championship Game 12.5.2009, GeorgiaDome from patrick murphy-racey on Vimeo.

I enjoyed watching the video so much, I also wanted to share the behind the scenes video he produced. Patrick, you may be new to video, but you definitely know how to shoot like a pro.
