RACIST HP MEDIASMART COMPUTERS #technologyfail
This one goes in the “should have Beta tested with black folks” category.
The YouTube video below sheds light on a major functional defect in HP’s MediaSmartDumb computer.
In this case, a gentleman named Dezi, and his co-worker Wanda demonstrate how the computer’s webcam will track the movments of a white person, but it doesn’t work at all when Desi (who is black) tests it out.
This one is going viral folks, and if you’re a person of darker complexion stay away from this model until HP works out the bugs.
It also seems that HP needs to take some PR crisis communications action thanks to YouTube, Desi, Wanda and the Internets. (Google “hp mediasmart computer and facetracking” and you’ll see what I mean).

Desi called me last night and we’re going to do an interview. I can’t wait to share his perspective.
My mother-in-law is having this problem with her webcam as well. Not sure what brand it is. I will look into that.
