PROFESSOR GATES ARRESTED FOR BREAKING INTO HIS HOUSE

by A.man.I

The arrest of Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. shows that the police will lock a man up for anything, even if he’s on the front porch of his house.

Professor Gates was arrested at his home on July 16 after the alarm went off. It looks like some folks in the neighborhood and the police suspected Gates of being a robber.

According to his lawyer, Professor Gates showed his ID, asked the officer for his name and badge, and asked a few questions, then the cop arrested him for disorderly content.

from TheRoot

As Professor Gates stepped onto his front porch, the officer who had been inside and who had examined his identification, said to him, “Thank you for accommodating my earlier request,” and then placed Professor Gates under arrest. He was handcuffed on his own front porch.

The charges have since been dropped. If you give the boys half a reason, they’ll find an excuse to put you in your place.

Who are they serving and protecting?

    Hey Amani! I think that Mr. Gates just got a taste of what happens to average black men. No offense to him, but he’s always on the outside looking in…

    This should of “never” happened. I did not realize how “black” men are treated in America until I married my gorgeous hubby (orginally from Africa). I have never been pulled over so many times, for “nothing” while in the vehicle with my husband. He is always gracious…..I ask him “why”, he says “we don’t need trouble”…. I had to even go to court to “fight” about a ticket given to me for speeding while my husband was a passenger. The previous 20 years have not gotten “one” ticket and I wasn’t “speeding”…..I know that the wonderful “cops” profile…..I have reason to believe since I too now am a victim of “profiling”…..because I happen to love a beautiful wonderful black man!!!!

    We have three observations about the Harvard professor incident:

    1. We find it interesting that the fact that this was the professor’s home was evidently not established early on way before the dispute escalated;

    2. We find it fascinating that the versions of two members of society, who most would ordinarily view as responsible and honest citizens (this obviously does not include politicians), would vary so dramatically from a factual point of view.

    3. Finally, considering that the reading and viewing public were not present at the scene (and thus have no first hand knowledge), and that there is no video tape to our knowledge of the sequence of events and what was said, how so many have formed conclusions, and made assumptions, about who did what and who was wrong.

    There are some things which Professor Gates might have considered upon the arrival of the police, no matter how incensed he may have been.

    I am a white guy but the president was perfect right, the cop was wrong 100% aresting the man after he lerned that he was the owner of the house.

    It is bad when people misuse their attributes and cover up personal fillings with their so caled “job duties”.
