H.O.T.E.P. (Healing Ourselves through Excellence and Preparation) will hold its 2nd Annual Breakthrough Lecture Series and Conference on Friday, January 30, 2009 at Clark Atlanta University. H.O.T.E.P is a nonprofit organization which focuses on creating program models that can influence how urban and rural educators, the church, and community organizations coalesce for the betterment of their communities. H.O.T.E.P. provides forums for professionals in the disciplines of Religion, Education and Psychology, in effort to create regular dialogue, synergize ideas and create change.
This year’s conference theme is “Sankofa: Restoring the Greatness of the African-American Family, Church and Academic Village,†and will feature renowned minister, The Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Wright and Queen Quet , Chieftess and Head of State of the Gullah/Geechee Nation as guest speakers. An awards ceremony during the luncheon recognizing Dr. Wright and Queen Quet for their service and dedication to the community. Five undergraduate students will each receive a $1,000 scholarship, sponsored in part by NASA, for their outstanding scholarly essays on this year’s conference topic.
