Wes – are you equally ashamed of blacks who vote on their race?

I am not voting for McCain and I am a white guy. I am not voting for Obama for the same reasons that I did not vote for Mondale, Dukakis, Clinton, Gore, and Kerry – their politics.

America will easily elect a woman or minority to the White House, but it won’t be Hillary and it probably won’t be Obama.

Fair warning: I’m so white I’m translucent.

Having said that, I’m downright ashamed of any of my fellow Caucasians who would vote strictly on race. Sadly, there are many of them.

A black man as president, OK. This black man? No way. This unprincipled liberal is a danger to our economy and our security. My Italian mother used to tell us kids, don’t do anything that brings shame to our heritage and family. Too many blacks don’t give a flip and never learned that lesson. It is in everyone’s best interest for the “black family” to clean up its act.

The Positive Black Man is rarely reported. The event that sticks out in my mind was a shooting in the West End of Birmngham between a couple of gang bangers. The story was the all over the news, but I was somehow unable to find a story about the THOUSANDS of high school kids down the street at Legion Field in a Battle of The Bands.

I don’t agree with a lot of your views, but that doesn’t mean I don’t respect them. Nice blog.

People should allow their own racist beliefs to interfere with their politics. I don’t think voting for Obama because he’s black is much different than voting for McCain because either he’s white or because he’s not black or even because he’s not Obama.

And that’s why we need you Urban Reporter. There is good news out there that the media isn’t likely to report.
