THINKING ABOUT OUR FIRST BORN SONS

by A.man.I

For the Channel’s, April 19 is a day to reflect, remember, and appreciate how precious life is. On this day two years ago, my wife and I were blessed with the birth of our two twin boys Rico, and Jordan.

Daphne was 20 weeks pregnant at the time. We had just returned from visit to Harlem New York where Daph’s sister lived. The trip didn’t go as planned, she ended up in the hospital, and after returning to our home in Tampa Florida, the unexpected happened.

That day Daphne was in a lot of pain. We didn’t realize it at the time, but she was in labor. I had repeatedly asked her if she wanted to go to the hospital, but she refused. Since it was my day off from work, I decided to go to the library to work on a term paper for one of my grad classes.

That’s when I called my dad and ask him for some advice. He told me to go back home and take Daph to the emergency room. It’s a good thing I did. The boys were born thirty minutes later. We held them, kissed, and loved them for the short time they were with us.

Since then, we’ve been working to raise money for the March of Dimes.

If you feel moved to do so, please made a donation, on behalf of Rico and Jordan Channel.
